The “Y” offers many facilities for community groups, either to hold their own through our hall/room hires or to join one of the established group which already exist. You can download a copy of our weekly activity programe HERE.

Board of Trustees

The Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of volunteers drawn from the local community.  These volunteers either represent a group of interest or have special skills that are valued and needed by the "Y".  We thank all Board Directors who regularly give of their time, freely without seeking profit or gain, to help us help the most vulnerable in the community of Glenrothes and Fife . 

From time to time, vacancies arise on the Board of Trustees.  If you are interested in registering your interest for a future vacancy please contact the "Y" on 01592 612674. 

Their specialisms include:

Human Resources, Health Services, Engineering, Education, Training, Company Directorship, Health & Safety, Community Learning & Development, Finance/Accounting and local Church representation.  Additionally the charity has a voluntary professional adviser for advice on architectural design and chartered surveying/property matters.

Cathy Adamson

Cathy Adamson retired in 2008 as Director of Support and Co-ordination for NHS Fife.  As a member of the Strategic Management Team for NHS Fife, Cathy's responsibilities have included corporate governance, policies, freedom of information, health and homelessness, community planning, housing, performance management and communications.  In the past she was Project Director for the new St Andrews Hospital and Health Centre project.

William Craik

Bill Craik qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1971 and worked overseas in Hong Kong, initially in the profession and then later in commerce.  Bill took early retirement at the end on 1995, returning to the UK in 1996.  Thereafter Bill has been involved in the voluntary sector, assisting many local Fife charities with financial planning, guidance, accounting procedures and audit.

Sue Dobie

Sue Dobie has teaching experience spanning 35 years and held Assistant and Deputy Headteacher roles in the 1980s and 1990s before being appointed Headteacher at Glenwood High School in Glenrothes in 2003.  Sue retired in January 2010. She has sound experience in the development and implementation of operating plans, managing a large staff team, working with voluntary committee structures and promoting the school and its services within the local community.  She is committed to supporting young people. 

Tim Hailey

Tim has had extensive experience at Directorate level in manufacturing and commerce.  Latterly Tim was Chair of Tourist Scotland.  He is involved in other charities within Fife including Fife Society for the Blind.

Andy Heapy

Andy Heapy is a Human Resources generalist with over 20 years experience. Previously working in financial services organisations, most recently with Dunfermline Building Society, Andy was appointed as Head of HR and Corporate Learning with Victim Support Scotland in January 2011. Andy is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Iain Henderson

Iain Henderson is a qualified Civil Engineer and is Lead Officer for Fife Council's traffic management and safety for south Fife .  He has strong experience in public consultation, area committee support, implementation of statutory regulations, procurement and research.  With over 16 years local authority experience he is particularly interested in young people and their development.

Elizabeth Johnston

Beth Johnston is a church representative, having been an Elder since 2001 and a member of St Columba's Church for more than 26 years.  Beth worked for W & JB Eastwood in Glenrothes and has 20 years experience in retail sales. She is a longstanding member of the Glenrothes YMCA-YWCA. 

Richard Jones

Dick Jones is a Health and Safety specialist who took early retirement from Smith Anderson paper-mill in Fife , where he worked from leaving school for over 44 years.  Dick rose to become Group Safety and Hygiene Manager, having commenced his career as a paper tester.  Dick has a particular interest in music and young people making music.

Jim Lewis

Jim Lewis is a retired Community Education worker having spent a lifetime in support of adult, youth and community education in Glenrothes.  Jim has been past chair of many voluntary organisations and has been a Justice of the Peace for 20 years and was a Councillor for Kirkcaldy District Council.

Brian Robertson-Fern

Brian Robertson-Fern is currently Service Manager for Corporate Services for Apex Trust Scotland . He is responsible for many functions including skills development for staff and clients, business improvements, health, safety and welfare.  He has also been Managing Director of a whisky export company and has a long experience in the Scottish Prison Service with a particular specialism in management of prison industries and training.
